Flutter Entertainment has declared that John Bryant will be joining the company’s board of directors as an independent director and designated head. Investors will also vote on the suggested dual listing in the United States.
Bryant is presently an independent director of Compass Group plc, Ball Corporation and Coca-Cola European Partners plc. He spent numerous years at Kellogg Company, where he served as chief executive, chief financial officer and chief operating officer. He will be leaving his position as an independent director of Macy’s Inc. on May 19, 2023.
The new head will assume his role at the Flutter shareholder meeting, where investors will have the chance to vote on the company’s proposed dual listing in the United States, in addition to its listing on the London Stock Exchange.
The Flutter board previously informed its investors that the company plans to implement an additional listing in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2023. This action comes after the increasing success of its US sports betting business, Flutter, which has become the largest operator in the US. At least 75% of investors must vote in favor for the measure to pass.
The new board member will commence his term on September 1, 2023. At that time, he will serve as head of the nomination committee.
The departing head will be stepping down from his position.
The departing head, Gary McGen, will step down after a nine-year tenure as a non-executive director. Bryant conveyed his excitement for his new position.
“It has been a privilege to serve as the head of this exceptional company, and I extend my best wishes to John as he joins the board during this pivotal moment for Flutter,” McGen stated. “I will guarantee a seamless transition to John during the remaining period of my leadership.”
McGen warmly welcomed Bryant to the organization and commended his prior leadership experience.
“I am thrilled to take over from Gary as the head of Flutter. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with Peter and the management team to expand the business and capitalize on the numerous promising opportunities ahead.”
The current CEO, Peter Jackson, provided remarks on both the departing and incoming head.
“I want to express my gratitude to Gary for his contributions to Flutter over the past nine years as a non-executive director, eight of which he served as the head. He has guided the company through a period of exceptional growth.
“I am truly looking forward to working alongside John. His expertise will be invaluable as Flutter continues to implement its growth strategy.”
