The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has requested that internet service providers (ISPs) in the nation block access to five additional overseas online gambling sites.
The ACMA has concluded that Spin Bit, Fight Club, Kim Vegas, Queenspins, and Yoju Casino infringe upon the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001 and are consequently unlawful in Australia.
The ACMA stated that they scrutinized each website following the receipt of numerous grievances and have now requested Australian ISPs to obstruct access to these five websites.
The ACMA remarked, “We remind individuals that even if a gambling service appears authentic, it is improbable to possess essential customer safeguards; this signifies that Australians utilizing illicit gambling websites are at risk of financial losses.”
Since commencing the issuance of blocking requests in November 2019, the ACMA has effectively blocked 324 websites purportedly operating illicitly in Australia.
Furthermore, since the ACMA commenced enforcing novel regulations concerning illegal overseas gambling in 2017, 147 unlicensed services have withdrawn from the market.
“Website blocking also presents a valuable opportunity to remind individuals about unlawful gambling services,” the ACMA asserted.
Should you attempt to access a website that has been prohibited, you will be unable to gain entry. In its place, you will be redirected to the ACMA website, which provides details regarding what is permitted and what is not.
The ACMA also requested that these websites be blocked last month: Grand Rush, Jackpot Jill, Koala Royal, National Casino, and Juicy Stakes.
