In an effort to safeguard citizens from the risks of illicit wagering, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is taking strong action against websites operating outside the law. They have already restricted access to nearly 1,000 sites offering services such as internet-based casinos and gaming machines without the necessary permits. This includes platforms like Jogi Casino and Dundee Slots, which were recently taken offline. The ACMA is committed to upholding its rules, and this initiative has already forced over 220 unlawful betting operations to cease activities within the Australian market. Their focus is particularly on preventing these operations during significant sporting competitions, such as the recent Women’s World Cup.
In March of this year, the Australian regulatory body, the ACMA, issued notices to a number of internet gaming firms determined to be in breach of the 2001 Interactive Gambling Act. These businesses, some bearing recognizable brands such as Lucky7even, 50 Crowns, and Zota Bet, were providing services to Australian citizens without the necessary licensing. The ACMA’s enforcement action also focused on entities like Mad Entertainment (responsible for Golden Lion Casino), Paloma Media (Thunderbolt Casino), and Dama and Friolion (Betibet).
